ARTS VOLUNTEER STOP MOTION CHALLENGE

INSTRUCTIONS:

To make it work, you place an object in front of a camera and snap a photo. You then move the object a tiny bit and snap another photo. Repeat this process twenty to ten thousand times (more photos=better quality animation), play back the sequence in rapid progression, and the object appears to move fluidly across the screen.

The object/objects can be whatever you want to use: fruits, drawn characters, plastic toys such as lego or playmobil, playdough figures, stuffed toys... all you can imagine!!!

Here you have some other instructions in Spanish:

INSTRUCTIONS

First you should think in the story you want to animate (a short one) and create the text.
Then, make your animation following the instructions.
Finally, edit the video adding your voice as narrator of the story.

MATERIALS YOU WILL NEED:

  1. The objects you are going to animate (do not use too many, as much as you use, the more difficult you will find to do the movie).
  2. A camera (photo camera, mobile, tablet...). you can use a tripod or be very sure that the camera is going to be in the same position all time.
  3. Something to settle the background: it could be a cardboard box, some papers sticked to the wall... there you have to draw/print/design the background for your story (I recommend you to design the floor too, to make it more realistic):

    • For example: I want to set my story in the bottom of the sea, so I should design a background with fish, water, sand, shells...

VIDEO EDITION
(I recommend you to do it in the computer with Windows Movie Maker or other video editing programme you know):

    • If you are using your computer you can use the programme Windows Movie Maker. Here you have some instructions to follow (in Spanish):
    • If you are using your phone or tablet to do the set up of the movie you should download a free app such as the following (but I recommend you to do the assembling in the computer):
      • Stop motion maker
      • Stop motion studio
      • lego movie maker
  • Once you have made your video you should add the sound. Record the story in the video with a video edition programme. As I told you before, with movie maker you can do it:
